Otto, the famous Peruvian skateboarding bulldog, won our hearts last month when he set the Guinness World Record for the longest human tunnel ever traveled by a dog on skateboard. He and his owners now have their hearts set on another prize, reported AFP. Otto is gearing up to try and win the "Hot Dog" award at the upcoming World Dog Awards on The CW.
"Otto does surfing, skateboarding, sandboarding and skimboarding. He weighs 27 kilos (60 pounds) and is a healthy dog for his breed and age," said one of Otto's owners, Luciana Viale, according to AFP.
"When we went out in the street with Otto who played on the skateboard, people would tell us: 'We want to see it.' Seeing a dog on a skateboard is unusual -- and a fun thing for people. Otto is competing in the World Dog Awards in the 'Hot Dog' category... That fills us with pride, he is a member of the family," she said, noted AFP.
The Hot Dog category of the World Dog Awards is for dogs that are able to do extreme sports. Notable dogs that are up against Otto for the title are Titti the cliff-diving Jack Russell Terrier (below), and Brandy, the GoPro-sponsored snowboarding pug (below Titti).
The World Dog Awards should be marked in the calendar of any dog-lover. It's set to air on Jan 14, 8pm/7c on The CW. Some of the categories include Best Dressed, Most Dog-Like Animal (that isn't a dog), Top Trick, and Best Celebrity Dog Selfie. You can vote for your favourites online at The World Dog Awards website.
