Martin Sheen's son Emilio Estevez tweeted a picture of his father Thursday night after he received major heart surgery. The picture showed Sheen holding a giant stuffed heart as he gave a thumbs up sign to the camera.
"My Pop! Successful proactive quadruple bypass surgery this week!" Estevez, 53, captioned the photo of Sheen, 75. "A great Blessing indeed!"
"Martin extends a big thumbs up and a BIGGER heart felt 'THANK YOU' for all your well wishes and prayers," Esteves revealed on the official Facebook site for their film "The Way of the Movie." "He wants to wish you a very Merry Christmas and sends you all a mighty blessing!"
Estevez also noted that the procedure was done at a Los Angeles hospital over the past weekend and that his mother Janet Sheen was present as was other members of Sheen's family.
"My father displayed great courage, strength and humility as he took on this challenge," he continued. "Not surprisingly, he is recovering beautifully, out of the ICU and is expected to not only be home for Christmas, but be 100% by the time he returns to work on season three of the Netflix series, 'Grace and Frankie' early next year. Please lift him up and keep him in your prayers."
Sheen was also visited by his other famous son in the hospital, Charlie Sheen, a source told Us Weekly, on Dec. 14.
