Cleveland Cavaliers NEWS: Kyrie Irving Announces His Return

The Cleveland Cavaliers will get their star point guard back Sunday against the Philadelphia 76ers, as Kyrie Irving has announced through his Twitter account that he is back.

The Cavaliers have been patiently awaiting Irving's return from a knee surgery, and reports have surfaced that Cleveland's star guard has been ready for some time, according to Chris Haynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Irving hasn't played since Game 1 of the NBA Finals on June 4, when he fractured his kneecap. The organization likely has played it safe with Irving and felt a return against the NBA's worst team the 76ers would be a proper time for him to come back.

The Cavaliers have managed without Irving, as they currently have the best record in the Eastern Conference at 17-7. LeBron James has continued to dominate on the court this season without Irving and is currently averaging 26.6 points and 6.5 assists per game. The return of Irving likely takes some of the offensive pressure off James and clearly opens up the court on offense for head coach David Blatt.

While Irving is set to make his return Sunday afternoon, guard Mo Williams has already been ruled out with a thumb injury, according to Cavaliers reporter Hayden Grove. Shooting guard Iman Shumpert is currently listed as questionable against the 76ers with a groin injury.

Expect the Quicken Loans Arena to get extremely loud when they announce Irving's name in pregame warmups on Sunday. "I'm pretty F-ing excited," said Irving about his return, according to a tweet from Haynes. The Cavaliers star point guard said that his emotions will probably take over later in the day, as he is likely extremely anxious to get back on the court.
