Hostelworld, a hostel-booking site, has created a publicity stunt that asks volunteer travellers to skydive while calling their parents via Skype and have the whole event recorded.
Roger Ryan, from Louth, Ireland, was one of six people traveling in Sydney, Australia, to take on the challenge. His parents first thought that he was calling them from a bus and were petrified to realize he was falling towards earth for 14,000 feet, The International Business Times reported.
A video of the Ryan's jump has gained over 700,000 views on YouTube in just two days.
The stunt is part of Hostelworld's campaign series that wishes to "show that when you stay in hostels, you meet people who turbo-charge your experience," Hostelworld spokesperson Freya Leete said, according to The Huffington Post.
A spokesperson from Bounce Hostel has confirmed that the call and stunt is legit in response to some viewers that have accused the video as fake and staged, Business Insider reported.
While most travelers would call parents to assure them that they are fine, Ryan and the other volunteers did just the opposite, and instead somehow shared their adventures with their parents back home, even if it was only through a video call.
