On Saturday, former "Opie And Anthony" radio show host Anthony Cumia was arrested for domestic violence after a 26-year-old woman claimed he had assaulted her in his own home, according to TMZ. In the video, which she uploaded to Periscope while waiting for the cops to arrive, the woman claims that he had beaten her and broken her hand. When the cops finally got there, they arrested him and charged him for strangulation, criminal mischief, unlawful imprisonment and assault.
Apparently, the 54-year-old radio show host "stomped" on the woman - who claims to be his girlfriend - hurting her hand, then strangled her and pinned her against the wall following an argument, according to the court documents obtained by News Day. She has been identified as Danielle Brand and has allegedly suffered a fractured rib, swollen arm and chest pain from the assault incident.
On Monday, Cumia pleaded not guilty to the charged from this alleged attack in his New York home and has been released without bail following his arraignment on Sunday, according to TIME. "Mr. Cumia emphatically denies the allegations brought against him, and is optimistic that when the truth comes out, he will be exonerated," Schwartz said in a statement. "Simply put, things are not always what they appear to be, and this case is a perfect example of that."
He is due back in court in January. Watch the video below (warning: NFSW language).
