Target: Stun Gun Used Against Employee During Attempted Robbery

A Long Island woman is wanted by police after she attacked a Target employee with a stun gun while attempting to steal "assorted merchandise," authorities say.

The incident in question occured around 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve at the Target on 1150 Old Country Road when the woman was caught trying to steal various items by a store employee, reported PIX 11. However, when the employee approached her, she pulled out a taser and shocked her with it before fleeing on foot.

Police soon responded to the scene and pursued the suspect, who fled towards Route 58. However, she managed to evade her pursuers.

Authorities later identified the woman as 33-year-old Victoria Deon, who still remains at-large, according to the New York Daily News. It's unclear how police managed to identify her as the suspect.

In the meantime, the victim, whose name is unknown, was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center, where she was treated for non life-threatening injuries before being released.

The Target store where the incident took place was closed for Christmas and couldn't be reached for comment, but its corporate office said in a statement: "The safety and security of our guests and team members is a top priority for Target. We are working with law enforcement on this incident," according to ABC News.

Anyone with information regarding Deon is urged to contact the Riverhead Police Department at 631-727-4500.
