The secret has finally been revealed—Katherine (Nina Dobrev) is a mommy and Nadia (Olga Fonda) is her daughter.
Olga recently hinted that fans were going to find out much more about her character and we definitely have. In addition to knowing the identity of her mother, we also know Nadia is a traveler and a vampire. A very old vampire.
In many mother/daughter reunions there is happiness and warm, cuddly feelings going forward. According to Fonda, this might not be one of those reunions.
“I can't say much, but as you can imagine, it's just like the saying; ‘Like mother, like daughter,’” Fonda said in a recent interview with EOnline. “They definitely are cut from the same cloth, so that may cause some drama. I can tell you that they do have a lot of catching up to do!”
Fonda tells the website she doesn't know what the writers have in store for her character but she believes Nadia would continue to look for answers.
Nadia definitely has questions about Katherine and so do we. The first is, how is she not dead after Silas seemingly drained her off all her blood? (Did you feel a bit sad when you thought Silas’ bite was the end of the Katherine saga?) Is she a vampire? Did Nadia give her some vampire blood?
According to the preview for next week’s episode on the CW website, Silas has returned to being a witch. This means the opportunity to bring Bonnie back to life has now presented itself. In the video, Silas agrees to go through with Damon’s plan to return Elena’s best friend form the other side by using the 2,000 year old's death. However, Jeremy asks a pretty important question:
“He’s gonna bring Bonnie back out of the goodness of his heart?”
