It seems like Samsung is taking another cue from Apple's playbook once more. Citing unnamed sources, South Korea's ET News has reported that the new flagship device from the world's top smartphone maker will come in two sizes, a 5.2-inch flat and a 5.5-inch curved screen version, according to The Business Insider.
The South Korean publication further stated that the initial production run of the device will be set at about 5 million units, with 3.3 million being dedicated to the 5.2-inch model, while around 1.6 million are set for the curved screen version, which will be called the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.
The decision to release two devices with different screen sizes simultaneously would be a slightly different strategy for Samsung. This year, for example, the South Korean tech giant unveiled the S6 and S6 Edge at the same time, and though the devices had their differences, their sizes were identical. The larger version of the flagship, the S6 Edge+, was released later on, reports Yahoo! News.
Apart from the different screen sizes, the information outlined by ET News further stated that after an expedited production run, the device will be set for a February 2016 release.
The price of the handset was also discussed in the ET News report. Rumors have already been abounding about the S7 being 10 percent cheaper than the company's current flagship device, and the report confirms this, stating that the S7 will be priced at around $465 in the United States, according to The Daily Mail.
Both iterations of the Galaxy S7 are also set to feature a 3-D Touch interface similar to what Apple has used in its iPhone 6s and 6S Plus models.
