KitKat Android 4.4: See What Google's Latest Operating System Can Do

Google has revealed the features that are contained within its latest version of the Android 4.4 operating system, nicknamed KitKat., which was first announced back in September. While there's nothing particularly revolutionary about the new Android system as their was with Apple's latest update with iOS 7, Android 4.4 has several impressive features worth noting.

The new KitKat operating system relies heavily some of Google's services to enhance most of its tasks, according to NBC News. For example, the new updates to the phone application have a new caller ID that will check business listing for an unknown number so that you can vet the call and know what kind of company is trying to contact you before answering the phone. No longer will users have to suffer through the awkward phone encounter that is picking up to a telemarketer. In addition, when people search their contacts, they will see not only people but places nearby.

There is a new "immersive" mode that lets apps and games take up the whole screen rather than whatever portion of the screen isn't taken up by status bars or buttons. Meanwhile and improved file-finding tool minimizes switching between apps while you're looking to attach or modify a recently used downloaded image or document.

Many Android users will be pleased to know that there is also an improvement to the battery life of phones with the new 4.4 KitKat os. It consumes less batter life with things like music playback, more efficient memory and built-in security features like app sandboxing and remote device wipe. Google claims this will make KitKat effective even on low-end smartphones.

There have also been improvements to the voice command from Google, a personal assistant similar to Siri that can find requests online in language that people actually speak in.
