A Domino's pizza delivery driver in California was accused of stabbing a customer on Sunday during a fight over the "extended delay of a pizza delivery to the location," according to Covina police. The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. when the driver, identified as 31-year-old Michael Charles Parker, arrived at the Covina home in the 600 block of N. Mangrove Avenue, according to a police report.
A fight ensued between the 20-year-old customer and Parker over the pizza's delivery time. The pizza was an hour and a half late, and while the details about the argument are unknown, it's probable the customer refused to pay. In any case, at some point during the altercation, the victim was stabbed in the wrist and neck.
Police, notified of the incident, responded to the scene where he was treated by the Los Angeles County Fire Department and then transported him to a trauma center. Police investigated the call at the customer's home, then located Parker at the Domino's restaurant on Cypress Street where he was arrested and taken into custody for assault with a deadly weapon, according to FOX News.
Domino's released a statement about the incident after being contacted by local media.
"Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We haven't heard anything about of this. All the stores in California are owned by independent franchisees and because we have no information, we can't provide comment other than to say we are shocked by the allegation and hope the customer is OK," a spokesman said, according to NBC 4 Southern California.
Parker has since posted bail for $30,000 and was released from custody pending his arraignment on March 21 at Citrus Superior Court.
