Ronda Rousey will make her first major television appearance since she lost her UFC women's bantamweight title fight to Holly Holm on the Jan. 23 episode of "Saturday Night Live." The fighter will be joined by Selena Gomez, who will be the musical guest of the week, the show announced on Twitter.
While Rousey is a professional athlete, she does have an impressive film résumé, according to Entertainment Weekly. The former UCF champ previously appeared in 2015's "Furious 7" and the "Entourage" movie and is slated to star in the upcoming "Road House" reboot as well.
Rousey joins a list of heavy-hitting professional athletes who've hosted "Saturday Night Live" including Tom Brady, Derek Jeter, Peyton Manning and LeBron James, according to the Los Angeles Times. She will be the first MMA fighter to host the show, even though boxers George Foreman and Marvin Hagler have previously done it.
This will be the first time Rousey has appeared on "Saturday Night Live." Fellow first timer Gomez could not contain her excitement and tweeted "Sooo I'm performing on @nbcsnl on 1.23!! What is life?? I couldn't be more excited. GUYS.. SNL!!"
"Saturday Night Live" also announced that "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" actor Adam Driver will host the first episode of 2016 on Jan. 16 with musical guest Chris Stapleton.
"Saturday Night Live" returns on Jan. 16 at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
