"Glee" fans could be seeing a whole lot more of Rachel Berry. According to Radar Online show creator Ryan Murphy is reportedly developing a spinoff series starring Lea Michele's character.
"This will be announced soon," the source said. "They're making the deals now and it also presents a viable exit plan for the main 'Glee' series itself - in that some of its core cast would also migrate to the Lea Michele project as 'Glee' is showing signs of aging."
Murphy already revealed to TV Line that Season 6 would be it for the show. He told the website that he originally wanted the final season to focus on Rachel (Lea Michele) and Finn (Cory Monteith) but following the actor's tragic death the ending was being rewritten.
"The final year of the show, which will be next year, was designed around Rachel and Cory/Finn's story," he said. "I always knew that, I always knew how it would end. I knew what the last shot was - he was in it. I knew what the last line was - she said it to him. So when a tragedy like that happens you sort of have to pause and figure out what you want to do, so we're figuring that out now."
Rachel has remained a breakout star and one of the show's central characters so it makes sense why Murphy would want the supposed spinoff to focus on the ambitious William McKinley alum. Several questions remain about this idea for instance would Santana (Naya Rivera) and Kurt (Chris Colfer) be featured on the spinoff series and what would be the central theme of the show?
Rachel is currently a college student living in New York City trying to make it as a Broadway star. Rivera had recently expressed interest in getting her own spinoff for Santana telling E! News that she was completely on board with the idea.
"She can do anything," she said about Santana. "That's the beauty of Santana."
Should Lea Michele get a "Glee" spinoff series? Would you watch it?
