Samsung Targets Bendable Displays in 2014, Foldable in 2015

Samsung is not stopping anytime soon, at least not until it brings a revolution in smartphone making. Latest plans of the tech giant reveal bendable displays will debut in 2014 and foldable ones in late 2015.

Samsung, world's biggest smartphone maker, has revealed its future plans that will revolutionize the smarpthone business. The success of its Galaxy Round, first smartphone with a curved display, did not go as expected. But nothing is to stop the tech giant from moving ahead with its flexible display technology. The South Korean multinational tech company has bigger plans for the future and if everything goes as planned, then Samsung will introduce bendable displays next year.

Samsung launched the first curved display smartphone, the Galaxy Round, last month. But the latest shift in smartphone did not attract the customers as expected. The company showed off its flexible display at the CES in 2011. Samsung integrated the technology into its Galaxy Round, but due to the rigid protection cover the device does not demonstrate the bendable display. That may have been a turn off for many consumers. But the latest news is likely to bring more excitement among users.

While the details on the company's timetable are limited, Samsung is on track with its plans to unveil its first bendable display smartphone next year. The company had planned a curved display in 2013, and it was unveiled as planned. So next year, users can expect a bendable display integrated into a smartphone. The company will not put an end to its innovation; in fact it will unveil its first device with foldable display by late 2015 or early 2016, according to Sammy Hub.

The foldable display technology is difficult and no cakewalk and might take some time. Samsung has suggested that it needs to cross what it calls "technology barriers" before turning its plan in to a fully fledged device. These hurdles may also include complex manufacturing processes and materials. As long as the company has a timetable for its future moves, we can be sure of one thing that Samsung will work day in and day out to achieve its set goals.
