Like the usual trends, fads come and go, but some words or slang terms need to seriously die down in 2016. While initially fresh and perhaps cool and amusing to use in the beginning, some have become overused or misused in mainstream media. Below are the words that you need to stop using already (please):
1) "Break the internet" - Lake Superior State University (LSSU) in Michigan has recommended that this word be banished in 2016. Websites make use of the phrase in headlines about potential controversial stories and some say it's becoming "annoying" and "ridiculous," according to LSSU.

2) "Bae" - Boyfriends and girlfriends call each other "bae," which is short for baby or sweetie, according to the Urban Dictionary. The word has appeared in many rap songs and memes since the mid-2000s and has been described as "irritating, incomprehensible tween-speak," according to Esquire.
3) "Slay" - Anytime someone does something amazing, the word "slay" is used to describe it, but it's already a saturated tag, especially in entertainment news, according to USA Today.
4) "Squad," or "Squad goals," or "#squadgoals" - The words refer to a group of friends, cliques, posse, crew, gang or entourage, which became popular in the summer of 2015, according to The Atlantic. Using the word is seen as a form of "whitesplaining black culture," according to The Guardian. And just enough, already.

5) "#Blessed" - More commonly seen in social media posts, the word "#blessed" is usually associated with having something good. It's the caption used for photos of newly acquired designer handbags or shoes, or when someone is enjoying a dream vacation. "I highly doubt anyone believes God or any other spiritual entity sanctified your latte or vacation by any degree of religious rite," wrote Erin Coulehan via Salon.
