ABC Announces 'Marvel's Most Wanted': Will Clark Gregg Cross Over On 'Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Spinoff? [EXCLUSIVE]

Marvel rarely gives away any information on upcoming projects until it's absolutely ready, but ABC president Paul Lee jumped the gun a tad early with its next TV project from the comic book studio. The network announced last week at the Television Critics Association winter press tour that it has ordered a pilot for the "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." spinoff "Marvel's Most Wanted."

"S.H.I.E.L.D." stars Adrianna Palicki and Nick Blood will headline the series as their Marvel TV characters, Bobbi Morse aka Mockingbird and Lance Hunter. According to early reports, "Most Wanted" would follow the couple on their own set of adventures.

"We love the script. We think it's going to be great. We will to be making that over the next few months," Lee said on Saturday.

"Marvel's Most Wanted" would join the ever-growing Marvel TV universe that also includes ABC series, "Agent Carter" and the Netflix shows "Daredevil," "Jessica Jones" and the upcoming "Luke Cage." The shows are intrinsically linked under the Marvel banner, but one man stands out as the one to connect them all together: Clark Gregg, whose character originated in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

As much as Gregg looks forward to the spinoff, he wishes that it didn't have to come at the expense of working less with Palicki and Blood on "S.H.I.E.L.D."

"I am always ambivalent when I hear stories that might mean they will be on our show less, because they are so spectacular and have been such a great part of our team," Gregg told Headlines & Global News exclusively. "I'm also excited for them because there is a whole 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith' rebel agent storyline there that I would certainly watch."

Gregg hesitated last fall at the idea of Coulson crossing over too soon with Netflix shows like Daredevil. His busy shooting schedule on "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." also makes it difficult to appear on another Marvel show whether it's on Netflix on the new spinoff, but he's always interested.

"I would go anywhere to act with those guys and I love so much what Marvel is doing on Netflix. I hope it all crosses over, but when it's right. I don't think it's necessary to do crossovers just a gimmick or connective tissue because it's already really clear that Marvel is one story," he said.

"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." will return from its winter hiatus on Tuesday, March 8 at 9 p.m. on ABC following the second season run of "Agent Carter."
