The sheer breadth of titles available in Netflix today makes it frustrating to find the movie or television show that one is looking for. A trove of secret codes has been recently revealed that might just address this dilemma.
The secret codes, which number close to 76,000, were revealed recently and they organized Netflix contents according to micro categories. For instance, if the user clicks the Classic Movies genre, the URL of the landing page would be: https://www.netflix.com/browse/genre/31574. But if you replace the 31574 with one of the secret codes, it will yield a more specific micro genre such as 31694 for Classic Comedies or 7687 for Film Noir, helping users find what they really want to watch.
Reports identify two websites behind the Netflix trick. The first, which lists contents according to alternate genres and listed them alphabetically, can be accessed here. The second posted movies and television shows in ascending numerical order in a Google spreadsheet, which can be viewed online, the Daily Mail reported. Unfortunately, the spreadsheet is no longer available. It is not yet clear whether Netflix has something to do with the spreadsheet's deletion or whether the use of the codes violates the terms of its video streaming service.
It is important to note that not all available codes are working. But most are accessible so Netflix users are advised to save them for quick reference or before it gets taken down.
