Supergirl may have to wait another season before she crosses paths with her fellow DC heroes Green Arrow and The Flash. The three DC Comics TV shows need to develop a story plan with CBS and The CW within a month to pull of the multi-network crossover event, according to Entertainment Weekly.
"Supergirl" is in its first season on CBS. The CW already aired its annual crossover event between "Arrow" and "The Flash" in December.
"I would love it, a lot of things would have to go right and people would have to say 'Yes,'" Greg Berlanti, the producer behind all three shows, told EW. "It would have to figured out very soon. It would all have to be figured out in the next month or so. As it remains right now we've talked internally about how cool it would be, but we haven't had official conversations. [The CW chief Mark Pedowitz] is supportive."
CBS did announce on Monday that an upcoming episode will feature the previously reported younger version of Supergirl's famous cousin Superman - Kal El. Inspired by the "Superman" comics story, "For the Man Who Everything," Kara (Melissa Benoist) will wake up on an intact idyllic Krypton with no idea how show got there, according to TVLine.
"There was something about that story that to me was even more resonant for [Kara]," "Supergirl" executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said, " because for Superman it was a wish for something he never had. But for her, she wants something back that was taken from her."
"Supergirl" returns next week on Monday, Jan. 18 at 8 p.m. on CBS with a new episode featuring the debut of Winn's (Jeremy Jordan) father, the supervillain Toyman (Henry Czerny).
