"Supergirl," meet Supergirl.
The CBS superhero drama has cast Laura Vandervoort, who played the role of Kara Danvers aka Supergirl on The WB/CW series, "Smallville."
Vandervoort will recur as the DC Comics character, Indigo, a strong-willed, living supercomputer that was sentenced to Fort Rozz after turning against the people of Krypton. Now on Earth, nothing will stand in Indigo's way.
"Supergirl" also cast Jeff Branson in the recurring role of DC Comics' character, Master Jailer, the forceful and unrelenting jail guard on Fort Rozz who shows no mercy.
The casting news came during the "Supergirl" set visit for the Television Critics Association winter press tour.

ABC Developing a Second Marvel Comedy
ABC plans to bring more laughs with the Marvel crew. The network is developing a second Marvel TV comedy, joining the already announced, "Damage Control," according to IGN.
ABC president Paul Lee plans for "Damage Control" to premiere this fall. He didn't go into specifics on the second comedy only to tell IGN "in the long run, we'd love it to be" on ABC.
ABC Orders 2 Comedy Pilots; Feature Families With Cancer And Special Needs Children
They may not have superpowers, but the families featured in ABC's two comedy pilot pickups could be considered superheroes. The two shows come from former "Friends" writers Andrew Reich and Scott Silveri, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"Pearl," a single-camera comedy from Reich, focuses on a larger-than-life family matriarch who finds out she has cancer and becomes intent on controlling and orchestrating every aspect of her family's life before she dies.
Silveri also offers a single-camera comedy called "Speechless," that revolves around family with a special needs child who is good at dealing with the challenges it faces - and excellent at creating new ones.
Netflix Rebooting Norman Lear Sitcom "One Day at a Time"
Netflix announced Monday that it is reimagining the classic Norman Lear sitcom, "One Day at a Time." Lear will serve as an executive producer on the reboot and will co-star Rita Moreno, according to Deadline. The new series will focus on a Cuban-American family.
The Netflix description reads: "Our heroine is a recently separated, former military mom navigating a new single life while raising her radical teenaged daughter and socially adept tween son, with the "help" of her old school Cuban-born mom (Moreno) and a friends-without-benefits building manager named Schneider.
The orignal CBS show premiered in 1975 and ran for nine seasons. It starred Bonnie Franklin as a divorced mom and co-starred Valerine Bertinelli and Mackenzie Phillips. The late Pat Harrington Jr. played Schneider.
Kevin Smith Will Direct an Episode of "The Flash"
Feature film director and comic book guru, Kevin Smith, will helm an upcoming episode of The CW's "The Flash," the network announced over the weekend at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. A big fan of the show, Smith had his agent call executive producer Andrew Kreisberg to ask if he could direct an episode.
His episode will air in May. "The Flash" returns with new episodes on Tuesday, Jan. 18 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
Amazon Sets Return Dates for "Bosch" and "Catastrophe"
The Amazon drama "Bosch," starring Titus Welliver, will return for a 10-episode second season on Friday, March 4. "Catastrophe" will premiere its six-episode second season on Friday, April 8.
They joined the already announced premiere dates for "Mad Dogs" (10 episodes, Friday, Jan. 22) and "The New Yorker Presents," which debuts with three episodes on Tuesday, Feb. 16 followed by two episodes per week.
Fox Orders Time Travel Comedy Pilot from Phil Lord and Chris Miller
Fox has ordered another project from "Last Man on Earth" executive producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller, a comedy pilot that follows three friends who find a way to travel through time for truth, justice and riches, which complicates their lives in 2016, according to Variety. They visit some of the greatest moments of the past as they try to resolve their personal problems, while history and pop culture comically collide.
"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" Cast Craig Robinson and Oscar Nunez
"Office" alumni Craig Robinson and Oscar Nunez will guest star on separate episodes of the Fox comedy "Brooklyn Nine Nine," according to Entertainment Weekly. Nunez will appear on Jan. 19 as a doctor who has to deliver bad news to Jake (Andy Samberg) and Holt (Andre Braugher) about their health.
Robinson returns the next week on Jan. 26 as the Pontiac Bandit, who previously appeared in season one and two. He ends up on the same cruise ship that Amy (Melissa Fumero) and Jake are taking.
HBO Orders Hitman Comedy Pilot Starring Bill Hader
Bill Hader will return to TV in the HBO comedy pilot, "Barry," according to Deadline. The "Saturday Night Live" also directed the pilot, and co-wrote and executive produces with "Silicon Valley" executive producer Alec Berg.
The show will center on an ex-Marine (Hader) who works as a low-rent hitman in the Midwest. Lonely and dissatisfied in his life he begrudgingly travels to Los Angeles to kill someone and ends up finding an accepting community in a group of eager hopefuls within the L.A. theater scene.
Pop Renews John Legend's "Sing It On" for Second Season
Pop announced on Monday that it has renewed the singing competition series, "Sing It On," for a second season. Produced by John Legend, the docuseries about collegiate a cappella groups will return for new eight-episode season later this year.
