The Cleveland Browns have reportedly hired their next head coach in Hue Jackson, and he has made it clear that he wants to move on from quarterback Johnny Manziel, according to Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports. The Browns will look hard at taking a quarterback with the second pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, as Jackson will not want to hitch his NFL coaching career to Manziel's wagon, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.
Manziel was reportedly expected to be on his way out the door anyways this offseason, especially after missing the final game with a concussion only to reportedly be out at a Las Vegas Casino. The Cowboys were reportedly still interested in Manziel during the 2015 season, but given the amount reports surrounding his off field activities, it will be interesting to see if any team takes a reach on the risky quarterback.
The 23-year-old quarterback has clearly improved on the field in his second season in the league, but many believe that another team giving him another shot would just be enabling his off-field antics. Not many coaches around the league would be interested in bringing Manziel in after his time in Cleveland, and it will be interesting to follow what happens to the former Heisman-winning quarterback, according to NFL reporter Michael Silver.
Manziel threw for 1,500 yards this season with seven touchdowns to five interceptions, but he managed only a 2-4 record as a starter. The Browns finished tied for the worst record in the NFL at 3-13, and the beginning of their rebuilding process will start with the quarterback position.
