Season 32 of "Survivor" is just around the corner, and just as we saw during the previous season, it looks like there are a lot of new and exciting twists for "Survivor: Kaoh Rong!"
The upcoming season will be the hit show's second installment of their "Brawn vs. Brains vs. Beauty" theme and will consist of 18 brand new contestants split up into three tribes: Totang, Chanloh and Gondol, as HNGN previously reported. After receiving such good feedback the first time they visited this theme, they knew that this mixed group of contestants would be perfect to do it again.
A rumor about a new super idol started going around in December, and host Jeff Probst himself has confirmed that this is in fact true.
"This season, the hidden immunity idol is used like never before," Probst told Entertainment Weekly. "The big idol twist this season is that an idol has two separate powers. If you find an idol, it has the regular powers of a normal idol, but when put together with another idol- two can actually fit together-they can be used as one super idol that can be played after the votes are read."
This means that any immunity idol found can be used as always during Tribal Council after the votes are cast and before they are read, but now it can be combined with a second idol to be used as a safety net after the votes are read and it's already clear who has been voted out. This new twist will help save whichever castaway has been voted out.
"If an idol is used alone it plays as always- after the votes are cast but before they are read. But if you find someone else who has an idol and you are willing to combine your idols and play them together for one move, then you can play the idol after the votes have been cast and after they have been read," Probst continued to explain. "It essentially becomes a free pass. But you can obviously only use it for one person, so that means that you have to have a strong alliance because at least one of you is giving up their own personal protection to save their partner or possibly a third person. It has the potential to be a massive game changer, but like all big moves it requires a big risk."
This information will only be available to the castaways as they find the idols, which will apparently look like Yin-Yang symbols, so only those who find hidden immunity idols will be aware of the twist, which will make for some shocking Tribal Councils if used correctly.
"A fun by-product of 'Survivor' having been played so many times is that not everybody believes everything they are being told," Probst added. "This could be a situation where someone shares the info with an alliance member but isn't believed because it's just too outrageous. In this sense, the history of 'Survivor' has become its own twist."
Apparently, this isn't the only new twist that will be introduced this season, either, as there might also be something new involving the Jury. This has not yet been confirmed, but sources have revealed that someone will somehow gain the power to remove a Jury member and take away their voting privleges at the Final Tribal Council, according to Inside Survivor. It is unclear exactly how this will work, when it can be used and if it will be an individual or group decision.
"Survivor: Kaoh Rong" premieres on CBS on Feb. 17 at 8 p.m. ET.
