NBA 2K14 Next-Gen Features: Authentic Player Voices During Halftime and Post Game; Are We Closer to a Halftime Show?

2K Sports has done it again. A video was released today outlining a next-gen feature for “NBA 2K14”—Real Voices.

According to the video, NBA 2K14 will have the actual voices of over 600 players and coaches. They can be heard during halftime and post game interviews. In the YouTube video you can see superstars such as LeBron James and Kevin Durant, coaches such as Rick Carlisle and Doc Rivers and even players such Carlos Boozer and Roy Hibbert.

This is a huge step in becoming more authentic for 2K Sports. NBA 2K has always excelled in the actual gameplay department. Each year they add something to make play on the court smoother and make control of the players easier.

One of 2K’s only issues has been when you’re not on the court. This year they’ve obviously taken steps to improve this. They began by adding the “Bazemoring” feature. This way, the celebrations after a big play, such as a monstrous dunk, are much more realistic. The Real Voices feature will also add to the non-gameplay authenticity.

While this is a great step forward, I’m still one of the people holding out for a full-fledge halftime show. The Real Voices feature may be the first step to this wish. As I’ve stated before, my dream is to see the NBA on TNT crew (Shaq, Kenny, E.J, Chuck, and maybe C-Webb) at halftime during one of my games.

Do you think the NBA 2K team should create a more realistic halftime show? Share your answer and your thoughts on the video in the comment section below.

“NBA 2K14” hits stores Nov. 15 for PlayStation 4 and Nov. 22 for Xbox One.
