The Strikers are likely to recall Sri Lankan batsman Mahela Jayawardene for the semifinal. In form Jayawardene missed the last two games due to an injury.
"Not sure to be honest, I think he's pretty much right to go. Mahela is a class player so it would be great to have him back and in the form he was in before he got injured," Strikers' opener Tim Ludeman said, according to Adelaide Now.
The Sydney Thunder, on the other hand, are going to include South African allrounder Jacques Kallis on the squad for the semifinal.
"If it's 50-50, it's a pretty big gamble but if it gets up to 80 percent, it's definitely a gamble worth taking because obviously he offers the team so much balance and so much class and experience," Thunder skipper Mike Hussey said on Tuesday, according to Cricket.com.au.
The Melbourne Stars will take on the Perth Scorchers in the second semifinal of the prestigious T20 league on Friday (Jan. 22) at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The final of the fifth season of the Big Bash League will be played between the winners of first and second semifinal on Sunday (Jan. 24).
