Kristin Hartness and Jay Yontz are a couple who met while living in the U.S. Virgin Islands. A few months before they met, Hartness saw an ad online that was selling a teacup pig, and because she'd always wanted a pet pig, she decided to go for it. She named him Ziggy, reported HooplaHa.
Teacup pigs tend to grow to only 20 pounds, about the size of a medium dog, so she was thrilled with her purchase. However, Ziggy never stopped growing. In fact, he grew to 250 pounds, because clearly, he is not, in fact, a teacup pig. The couple was living in a house that they were renting, and Ziggy was like their very large child that they cared for and lived with, reported HooplaHa.
However, the owners of their house decided to sell it, and Hartness and Yontz were forced to look for other lodging. As it turns out, finding a place that's willing to rent to you when you have a 250-pound pig is not the easiest feat. In the end, the pair decided that because they couldn't find anywhere to go, "[they'd] go everywhere," said Yontz, according to Inside Edition, because "giving up Ziggy was never an option," said Hartness. The pair bought a mobile home and now travel across the country.
"He is the most handsome, beautiful soul you've ever seen in your entire life," said Hartness in the video below, uploaded by Heartwarming Animals. "Pigs are just like a 5-year-old kid. They show all the emotions." He's definitely a pampered pig, too - his owners feed him only organic fruits, nuts and veggies.
