Twitter Service Down For Hours Tuesday

Twitter users took to Facebook to complain after the social media service went down on Tuesday.

Twitter Inc. said the disruption was cased by a recent code change, according to the New York Times. The problems left some users with connection troubles while others could not log on. The issues first began around 3 a.m. EST, but the company said the code had been changed around 1 p.m.

Users took to Facebook with the hashtag #TwitterDown to complain about the issues.

The outage was the third in five days. The first was on Monday when mobile and web users were locked out for about 10 minutes, according to The Associated Press. On Friday Twitter was disrupted for 20 minutes.

Twitter's stock fell 4 percent Tuesday afternoon, according to International Business Times (IBT). The company's stock has fallen far below the $26 it initially opened at in November 2013. Investors have been advising stockholders to sell, IBT reports.
