"Resogun" has won over game critics, beating out "Killzone: Shadow Fall" mediocre reviews.
"Resogun" is a PlayStation 4 exclusive shooter title where you use a variety of artillery to take down hordes of alien enemies coming your way. Your goal is to rescue the remaining survivors of the distant galactic colonies who are under attack.
The exclusive has received glowing reviews, but you can check out what the tech sites had to say below.
IGN calls "Resogun" amazing, rating the game a 9 out of 10
"With some deceptively simple changes, Housemarque took a genre nearly as old as videogaming itself and made a tense, challenging, and excellent shooter. It may be short, but its addictive cycle of cylindrical shooter gameplay, great looks, and catchy music make it worth replaying in endless pursuit of that high score on the leaderboard."
PlayStation Magazine gives it a 9 out of 10
"This is where you stop blinking for about 25 seconds. Bolts of lightning fork through the terminally black sky. The hovering cylinder that makes up the Sentients' home world explodes into miniature cubes - voxels, as the developer calls them. Completely unflustered, your spaceship barrel rolls in money-shot slow motion through the neon devastation all about. Damn it feels good to be a gangsta, you think to yourself as you and loosen your panicked stranglehold on the DualShock 4.
"Even if you're playing Rookie mode, the easiest of four available difficulty tiers, witnessing the laser light show described above will feel like payment for a hard day's work. The follow-up to Housemarque's critically adored shoot-em-up Super Stardust HD, Resogun pulls off the notoriously difficult high-wire feat of balancing simplicity and familiarity with meaningful design innovation."
Polygon gives the title an 8.5 out of 10
"Resogun is a collision of 1980s shooters, 1990s bullet-hells and 2010s aesthetic. It's as simple or difficult as you want it to be. Sure, it borrows great ideas quite liberally. But Resogun's best idea is smashing them all together into a singular, spectacular laser light show."
