The Green Bay Packers 2015 season came to an abrupt ending in overtime in Arizona in the divisional round of the playoffs, and as the coaching staff and front office look to prepare for the 2016 season, there seems to a be a discord between the two.
Packers head coach Mike McCarthy has been one of the best coaches in football since taking over in Green Bay and has posted a record of 104-55-1 since 2006. McCarthy wants his team competing for a Super Bowl every season, and he is reportedly not happy with how the Packers' front office is handling player personnel.
McCarthy is "fed up" with Thompsons' unwillingness to take chances with strong veteran players that might be unknown to the Packers' organization but could contribute with their talent, according to Bob McGinn of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The Packers season took a major hit before it even began when star wide receiver Jordy Nelson tore his ACL in the team's second preseason game.
McCarthy knows that he has one of the best quarterbacks in the game in Aaron Rodgers and likely wants to surround him with the best available talent. It doesn't seem like anything in Green Bay will change soon though, as they will continue to compete with their star quarterback but likely lack the extra couple players to make them a Super Bowl caliber team.
