The PlayStation 4 day-one patch is available for download before its Nov. 15 release date.
Multiple sites reported be the system software update is available for PS4 users and below is a list of features that come with the 300 MB download, courtesy of GameSpot.com:
1. Remote Play
2. Second screen -- an application that works with PS Vita and and the PlayStation app on iOS and Android.
3. Share functionality for video recording and taking screenshots
4. Broadcasting (and spectating) gameplay streams
5. Ability to play while you download
6. Party voice chat
7. Face recognition and voice commands
8. Background music player
9. Online multiplayer
10. Blu-ray and DVD playback functionality
An important factor to not for the Remote Play feature is your PS Vita needs to be up-to-date. Sony Computer Entertainment released a software update version 3.00 for the handheld device that will allow compatibility with the PS4. The PS Vita is a companion device to the PS4 sold separately for $199.99.
"The PS4 Link app has been added to the PS Vita system's home screen. With this application, you can use your PS Vita to remotely control a PS4 system, and play a range of PS4 games on your PS Vita screen. When you're playing a game on PS4 that supports second screen features, you can also display information from that game on your PS Vita and use it as a second screen," Sony wrote on the PlayStation blog.
The update also included a revamp of the Friends list for the handheld.
"The application layout for your Friends list now includes the following tabs: Find Player on PSN, Friends, Friend Requests and Players Blocked," Sony wrote.
