Nickelodeon Movie Based On Nicktoons In The Works At Paramount

Paramount Pictures is moving forward with a film that will bring together all the best Nickelodeon characters.

"NickToons" will feature characters from classic Nickelodeon shows including "Rugrats," "Ren & Stimpy," "Rocko's Modern Life," "Aaahh! Real Monsters," and "The Angry Beavers," according to Deadline. The studio hopes to create a franchise from the ensemble movie.

Paramount has tapped Jared Hess to the film. Hess will write the script with Jarusha Hess, his wife and writing partner, who he worked with on the movies "Napoleon Dynamite" and "Nacho Libre."

The idea for "NickToons" came from Ali Mendes, who works for Disruption Entertainment's Mary Parent, who is producing the film with Cale Boyter. Mendes was a long time fan of the Nick characters and wanted to see them in one movie together, according to Deadline.

Nickelodeon is already reviving another Nicktoon favorite, "Hey Arnold," for a TV movie, which will pick up where the original series ended in 2004. It will also address the long unanswered question about what happened to Arnold's missing parents.
