PS4 Problems: EA Game Titles Crash Due To Technical Difficulties Stemming From PlayStation 4's Day-One Firmware Update

Electronic Arts is facing technical difficulties because of Sony's PlayStation 4 day-one version 1.50 firmware update.

In a the "Help" section on the company's website, EA explained the software update is causing their PS4 game titles to crash or freeze during gameplay. Check out the company's official statement below:

"Sony has released a firmware update for the PlayStation 4 that is required for many features on the console. However, this update also results in stability issues while playing games on the system. This affects all games on the PS4, including EA titles, causing crashing/freezing and non-responsive connections between the player's console and their TV Screen.

"Unfortunately since it's an issue with Sony's firmware, it requires a new update to fix it. Sony is working to resolve the issue as quickly as they can. They will update their System Update page as new versions are made available, and we will keep this page updated as we find out more."

Sony has yet to release a statement as of press time.

The EA report comes on the heels of several complaints of customers receiving broken PS4 consoles. However, Sony has confirmed in a statement to IGN the "dead" system issues have been investigated and the problems are reportedly not widespread:

"A handful of people have reported issues with their PlayStation 4 systems. This is within our expectations for a new product introduction, and the vast majority of PS4 feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. We are closely monitoring for additional reports, but we think these are isolated incidents and are on track for a great launch.

"There have been several problems reported, which leads us to believe there isn't a singular problem that could impact a broader percentage of systems. The number of affected systems represents less than .4% of shipped units to date, which is within our expectations for a new product introduction."

The PlayStation 4 officially launched on Friday, Nov. 15.
