Activision and Infinity Ward are fresh off the release of their latest joint gaming venture "Call of Duty: Ghosts." The game comes complete with an advanced multiplayer mode, a complex story mode and a survival-type monster shoot-em-up "Extinction Mode." Strung throughout all of these facets of the game are a few Easter eggs that gamers might find amusing juxtaposed with the backdrop of a post-apocalyptic warzone or an alien invasion. Below is our list of a few of the best, courtesy of IGN.
Gil's Lodge Motel: In Extinction mode, before the helicopter comes to assist with the first major Hive there is a sign for "Gil's Lodge Motel." The lights are usually out but occasionally 3 letters light up forming the acronym "LOL." This might be fun enough but it turns out that if you shoot the lights in the L-O-L order you can trigger a mode that will make every alien you kill explode into a bunch of tiny alien stuffed animals. This effect will time out but it is repeatable.
Teddy Bear on Flooded: Speaking of stuffed animals, on the multiplayer map Flooded a Teddybear can be found. Simply go to the center of the map and stand on the roof of a submerged bus. Look at the north to find a vent. Once you climb in the vent the bear can be seen at the top tucked between the vent and the wall. There's no natural reason for the teddy bear to be there but it's unclear if its meant to be a wink to the Treyarch Nazi Zombies teddy bear.
Saving Private Ryan Reference: During the mission "All or Nothing" you come across a soldier about to be executed by enemy forces. If you come to his rescue and kill every enemy around him, you are "Saving Pvt. Ryan."
Star Wars Reference: In one of the game's later missions you will have to sink a ship with a Remote Controlled Torpedo. If you are unable to do so on the first try, you will be told to "Aim for the thermal exhaust port." This is a clear reference to the first Star Wars film in which Luke Skywalker had to send a missile through a thermal exhaust port in order to blow up the Death Star. You can see how this works in the video below.
Platoon: The father in the campaign's name is Elias, similar to Sgt. Elias out of the movie Platoon. In fact, Rourke also resembles Sgt. Barnes with his dew rag and large scar running along his face.
