Match's annual Singles in America survey results released Monday showed glaring differences between the sex and dating habits of Republican and Democrat supporters. However, regardless of political alignment, those who are passionate about politics apparently experience better sex and orgasm with their partners. The survey also showed that politics can be a good first date discussion, especially in this election season.
Anthropologist Helen Fisher and biologist Justin R. Garcia conducted the survey in 2015 and they polled 5,000 single Americans from ages 18 to 70 and above. They were asked about dating and their political views, and how those views affected their relationships. The survey showed that despite differences in political affiliation, respondents who are into politics experience more orgasms at 13 percent and multiple orgasms at 32 percent, according to Mashable.
Fisher said this result is not a surprise. "The kind of person who's going to be very passionate in any sector that interests them," she told The Washington Post, "they're going to be passionate in any other sector."
The survey also revealed that 99 percent of Donald Trump supporters have more sex than Hillary Clinton supporters. They're also 54 percent likely to have more exes and 116 percent into discussing their exes with their dates. About 1,104 percent also think sex on the first date is OK, and they won't mind filming their bedroom dalliance.
On the other hand, 43 percent of Clinton supporters seek commitment in their relationship, with 65 percent wanting to have kids and 38 percent waiting to be with the "right person." The majority in this group are either female or gay respondents.
Republicans avoid discussing marriage and gay rights on a date, while Democrats are more open to these topics. However, dating Dems are not into talking about gun control, which is a subject many Republicans would be happy to discuss with their dates.
Republicans are also likely to enjoy dining at an expensive restaurant on the first date and expect the man to pay for it. Democrats are likely to shun a fancy first date and will instead wonder if the money could be used to help social causes.
But while both political affiliations can discuss politics during dates, it's the Clinton supporters who tend to be emotionally distant. "That surprised me," Fisher said, via Esquire. "But I know from studying personality that testosterone is linked with visual and spatial acuity. Maybe Trump supporters have higher levels of testosterone."
Meanwhile, the singles of America apparently love raw fish and sushi as their first date dinner, and the dish, along with some cocktails, could help score second date. Fisher analyzed that it could be because sushi is considered an adventurous novelty food. "Any kind of novelty drives up the dopamine system in the brain," said the doctor.
