The finale to "Breaking Bad" will go down in television history as one of the most satisfying and engaging series finales of all times. However, the famed ending to Walter White's story was not the only one the show's producers shot.
A satiric "alternate ending" to the show was leaked to YouTube over the weekend that was meant to be an extra on the complete series DVD box set. Unfortunately, the video has since been removed by Sony in many places citing copyright grounds. It shows "Breaking Bad" finally answering the question that everyone who first saw the commercials has asked: "Isn't that the guy from Malcolm in the Middle?"
According to NYDailyNews ,in this version Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston wakes up in bed next to Jane Kaczmarek, who played his wife Lois on the 2000-2006 sitcom on Fox. Hal wakes up from a dream that was apparently about the entire series run of the AMC drama.
What makes the skit work is the fact that, as many people have mentioned in the past, Walter and Hal could not be two more completely different men. In fact, Hal is almost brought to tears thinking about killing and poisoning people.
"I told you not to eat those deep-fried Twinkies" says Lois, completely reducing the series' 5 seasons into a Hostess nightmare. Hal then goes on to explain the details of the dream including his "tall beautiful blonde" wife, his brother-in-law who "looks like the guy from 'The Shield,'" and a "Little guy, a waif, a man-child, a kid who always looked like he was wearing his older brother's clothes."
These are three obvious references to Anna Gunn's portrayal of Skyler White, Dean Norris' Hank Schrader and Aaron Paul's Jesse Pinkman. The skit ends with Lois consoling Hal and, after some awkward marital moments, tells him to go back to sleep.
"Goodnight Skyler," he says before reaching over and shutting off the light. When he does, a familiar hat is seen sitting on the armchair beside Hal's side of the bed. The iconic Heisenberg porkpie hat sits idle mocking the viewer saying that the entire show was simply Hal's nightmare. After all, as the video points out, the only similarities between the two characters are the fact that both Walter and Hal are often without pants.
