Perhaps aware of the growing frustration among fans for lack of released information, Niantic Labs announced that it will show "Pokemon GO" - or at least demonstrate what is in store when the game finally launches sometime this year - at the Game Developers Conference 2016.
"Pokemon GO, ups the challenge of real world gaming design, taking a beloved franchise and setting its hundreds of brightly-colored monsters loose across the globe, adding a new Bluetooth wearable device created by Nintendo to the mix," GDC stated on its website. Niantic Founder and CEO John Hanke was identified to deliver a keynote about "how the company has developed a unique vision for delivering a mobile Pokemon experience that gets would-be trainers into the outdoors."
Niantic Labs is currently backed by a $20 million fund, raised from investments made by The Pokemon Company, Google and Nintendo. The mix of the investors indicates the unique platform of the upcoming game. The "Pokemon" concept of catching, trading and battling monsters will be set in the augmented reality technology seen in the location-based Google game called "Ingress." The collaboration seeks to create an entirely new experience in mobile gaming. The investors have also pledged to add $10 million each when the developer reach certain milestones, Gamespot reported.
It is not yet clear whether other rumored "Pokemon" games such as the "Z" will be shown or discussed during Hanke's presentation. This game appears to be in its early stages and would probably roll out later than "Pokemon GO," Parent Herald reported.
