The Philadelphia Eagles have already made some big moves this offseason in signing players to extensions, but they have still not made a decision regarding the most important position on the field. Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford becomes a unrestricted free agent this offseason, and Philadelphia's front office is not expected to use the franchise tag on him, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The Eagles reportedly still have interest in re-signing Bradford this offseason, but it will likely have to be at the right price. Bradford has struggled to stay healthy through his career, but he managed to play 14 games for the Eagles during the 2015 regular season. Bradford had a career-high 65 percent completion percentage this season and threw 19 touchdowns to 14 interceptions.
The former first overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft will likely garner interest from other teams on the open market, and it doesn't sound like Philadelphia is willing to get into a bidding war over the six-year NFL quarterback. Bradford has only completed a 16-game season twice in his career and has struggled to stay consistent with his play on the field when healthy.
A name to reportedly watch out for this offseason for the Eagles is former Eagles quarterback Nick Foles, according to Schefter. New Eagles head coach Doug Pederson was Philadelphia's quarterback coach when the Eagles drafted him in 2012 and reportedly still has interest in the Rams quarterback. Foles is still under contract with the Rams through the 2017 season, and Philadelphia would likely have to make a trade to acquire their former quarterback.
The Eagles have already resigned tight ends Zach Ertz and Brent Celek and will need to make a major decision regarding their quarterback position this offseason. The Eagles also have the 13th pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, and they could look to target a potential future franchise quarterback in the first round. The Eagles finished the 2015 regular season with a 7-9 record in a weak NFC East division, and they have a talented roster returning in 2016 but will need to figure out their most important position this offseason.
