Paget Brewster Returning To 'Criminal Minds' (TWEET)

Paget Brewster is making a comeback on "Criminal Minds" once again! CBS announced Wednesday that her character Emily Prentiss will be returning during the current season of the hit show. "Emily Prentiss is back!" the tweet read. "#PagetBrewster returns for one episode of #CriminalMinds to air later this Spring."

For this episode, Brewster's character "will call on the BAU for help when she believes the elusive international unsub she's been tracking at Interpol will next strike in America," according to TV Guide. This will be her second time returning to the show since she left in 2012 at the end of season seven. Since then, she's only been on once for a special appearance in the show's 200th episode in 2014.

Executive producer Erica Messer even said earlier this season that she was hoping Brewster would visit again soon. "Paget is always welcome back," she told TV Guide. "It's always about scheduling. She's busy, as she should be, she's got a new show, and it also has to make sense story-wise. We don't want to dip into that well too often. When she comes back, it has to be special and make sense. But she's family and is always welcome."

Since her departure from the show, Brewster has made guest appearances on several other popular shows, including "Modern Family" and "Key & Peele," but more recently, she's been starring on FOX's new show "Grandfathered" alongside John Stamos. When she left "Criminal Minds," she decided to go for roles that didn't have such dark material.

"When I decided to leave, I decided I wanted to go back and just do comedy and try to get better so I could learn things I haven't learned yet," she told HNGN exclusively in October. "All I was offered-the only stuff that came in-for a year and a half, two years, was a role for a cop or an FBI agent. My response was, 'I did that in a show that I think is great and I left.' That's not really interesting to me anymore."

"Criminal Minds" airs Wednesdays on CBS at 9/8c.
