Just a few short hours form now the Xbox One will hit store shelves for the first time and usher in a new generation of high-end console gaming and entertainment. Following the North American launch of the PlayStation 4 from Sony, Xbox is launching tonight to even the score and a number of people are already waiting in line to try and get their hands on the latest console from Microsoft.
IGN reports a number of eager consumers have been waiting in line since late last night to be among the first to get their hands on the Xbox One. Major Nelson, fan favorite Microsoft and Xbox executive, tweeted a picture yesterday of the very first person in line for the event. Gamertag kingodin79, as he calls himself online, is not the only person willing to wait in a long line to get his or her hands on the new product.
Nelso tweeted another picture of a group of people waiting for the event in New York City in Time Square. A live event for the launch is happening at 11 p.m. at the Best Buy Theater. According to Microsoft its launch event in New York City is the last place to get a Day One Edition of the console. Even if you haven't pre-ordered the system, the first 1,000 people in line for the Xbox One will still be able to purchase one at the event.
Nelson says the systems will be delivered to the show in special armored trucks carrying the Xbox One name on them.
You can check out a live stream of the event in New York City HERE via Xbox.com. The even is scheduled to feature Macklemore and a bevy of other talented artists and performers. However, the main attraction of the evening will of course be the Xbox One, its games and its players.
