Revolution Season 2 Midseason Finale Recap: Aaron Tell's the Nanotech to Go Away; Tom's Wife is Back

Last night’s episode of “Revolution” reunited two spouses and, more importantly revealed the secret behind Aaron’s powers. Let’s do a quick recaplet.

The Nevilles are reunited:

After Secretary Allenford’s husband killed her he put Tom and Jason on his security detail. (He didn’t really want brainwashed Jason but Tom insisted.) They are taking a train to the White House. Tom plans to kill the President of the United States. While they are on the train Tom looks out the window to see—his wife Julia. Yup, she’ s not dead. Unfortunately, Tom also sees her kissing another man. Tom decides to walk past the table she and the man are sitting at and she looks at Tom like she has seen a ghost. He ducks into coat closet and pretty soon Julia follows him. They catch up (in more ways than one) and she explains she thought he was dead and had to move on to survive. The man? He’s her husband. She met him after moving to the south with a friend. Tom reveals his plan to kill the president. However, she has other ideas. She tells Tom, they can still get everything they wanted. (What does she have planned?)

Aaron’s wish is the Nanotech’s command:

So we’ve figured it out, Aaron controls the nanotech or at least he did. When the show begins Rachel, Miles and Charlie are getting ready to storm Horn’s headquarters to get back Gene and Aaron. However, they soon realize they don’t have to. Aaron apparently took out the Patriots, escaped through a tunnel and ended up in an old school. Oh, and he healed Cynthia. Everything is explained when Aaron’s old friend from third grade appears to him in a vision as a little boy. Apparently, the nanotech has taken this form to communicate with Aaron. The boy explained two important things:

No. 1—The tech was activated once Aaron turned on the power

No. 2—They pretty much do anything Aaron thinks. When he thinks kill, they kill. When he thinks heal, they heal.

At first Aaron tells the boy to stop incinerating people. He then tells the boy to go away all together. Aaron’s going to wish he never did that because Dr. Horn and his troops arrive at the school to take Aaron hostage. Horn asks Aaron to heal him but Aaron explains to Horn that he’s not the one doing the supernatural acts. Horn, whose visibly way more sick than before, gets tired of waiting. As Aaron is yelling for the boy to reappear, Horn shoots Cynthia. The boy eventually comes. Aaron, in a fit of rage, asks the boy to incinerate not only Horn but ever patriot in the building. (Which helps Miles, Monroe, Charlie and Rachel who were all in the building to help save Aaron.) When the nanotech/boy asks why Aaron didn’t ask to heal Cynthia instead. When Aaron actually does ask, the boy wonders how Aaron asks the nanotech to both heal and kill. Then, the boy says he will grant Aaron his wish and leave him. Unfortunately he leaves before healing Cynthia.

In the episode we also learn Miles’ injured hand is infected and he’s near death. Apparently, Rachel was going to leave Daniel for Miles six years before the blackout. However, Miles told her to stay with his brother and said he didn’t love her. Flash to the present, Miles and Rachel are held up in a room as they fight the patriots in the school. Miles finally admits, right before he passes out, he shouldn’t have let her go all those years ago right before he passes out.

Aaron really shouldn’t have told the nanotech to go away.

“Revolution” airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on NBC.
