Joshua Gold makes a hobby of exploring and photographing abandoned buildings. He was trekking around an abandoned hospital in August of 2014 when he heard a strange noise. Instead of running away screaming, he got closer, and found out that it wasn't the ghost of a wronged patient - it was a kitten! Gold shared the story of the kitten this week, reported Life with Cats.
"This poor guy got separated from his mother and fell between the walls in an abandoned hospital. I heard his sad, panicked cries for help when exploring with a friend and returned alone to get him out since my friend was too nervous," said Gold according to LiveLeak. "I'm sure he would have died if I couldn't get him out. I got him out around 4 a.m., with some trips in between to go get tools and finally a ladder."
Gold often finds strange, interesting mementos in the buildings that he peruses, but the kitten was "the best find ever," he said to LiveLeak.
"He's healthy and well and now in foster care at Animal Humane awaiting adoption. I already have several rescued stray cats as pets, so I couldn't keep the little bugger, although I'd have loved to!" he added. The adorable little kitten is now named Leonard, after the hospital he was found in, reported Love Meow.
