Has Crash Bandicott Been Re-Purchased By Sony for PS4?

Naughty Dog, the studio that has made a name for itself with high-profile titles like "The Last of Us" and the "Uncharted" franchise has had a famed history of success in game development however, many don't know that its history extends back to 1996 with the famous character - Crash Bandicoot. Now thanks to new evidence found in some of the PlayStation 4 launch build up that could indicate everyone's favorite character might be coming back to PlayStation.

Naughty Dog worked on four Crash Bandicoot games for the original PlayStation console. After that, the company moved on to develop for the PlayStation 2 with "Jak and Daxter." From there, the franchise was owned not by Sony but Universal instead. Soon it was sold off to Activision in the early 2000s. The last installment in the franchise "Crash: Mind Over Mutant" debuted on the PS2, PSP, Xbox 360, Wii and Nintendo DS in 2008, according to IGN.

Now, a Reddit edior called cocbandicoot has put together a post that chronicles the history and the last few years of the Crash Bandicoot franchise. While the article is interesting and a fun history lesson, it ends with some very compelling evidence that may indicate Sony's original mascot has returned to the company after all these years.

The most recent bit of evidence comes from a picture seen in the post and clipped from a recent launch commercial for the PlayStation 4. On the white circular sign with a red outline, a silhouette of what appears to be Crash himself can be seen with an arrow pointing toward a gold diamond. While it seems in rather an innocuous wink, it just so happens to be one of the original logos for Sony Computer Entertainment.

While this may sound like nothing, it starts to become evidence that Crash is on his way back to Sony when coupled with the interesting news that Activision's Crash Bandicoot website has been taken down and any reference to the company's ownership of the game has been removed and wiped clean of the developer's web properties.

So far Sony has not commented on the matter but it's possible that fans of the original games might not be done adventuring with Crash and the gang.
