Normally, the cast of HBO's "Game of Thrones" is one of the most tight-lipped in all of television. Given the high level of scrutiny and passion viewers assign to the series, we really can't blame them and HBO for taking extra precautions. While they'd never let slip any major spoilers - Maisie Williams swore to the old gods and the new that Jon Snow was really dead - they have become a bit more talkative in recent weeks.
Isaac Hempstead Wright, who plays Bran Stark, recently spoke with Loaded and said that the show's sprawling storylines will start to come together in season six.
"You'll see things in season six that have never quite made sense before - and now it will all start to tie up," Wright said. "Stories all start to come together to make sense. I know we say this every season, but this series sees everything get bigger and bigger and bigger."
Speaking of bigger, the 16-year-old Wright is a lot taller since we last saw him. As "Thrones" fans know, the character of Bran Stark was not in season five and no one missed him more than the actor himself.
"It was a shame not being in season five, but it was the right time for me to take a year out," he said. "I hadn't done any acting in that whole year out, so it was quite a shock to the system to go back on a freezing cold film set. Once I was back into it, it was great fun."
That it was fun getting back into character is understandable. Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss opted to have Bran undergo his psychic training at the hands of Max von Sydo'w Three-Eyed Raven off-screen, similar to Luke Skywalker in between "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi." This season, all of that that training may lead to crucial visions of the past, present and future that fill in many of the show's most mysterious blanks. No wonder the young actor is excited.
"Game of Thrones" will return to HBO for its sixth season on April 24.
