Ellie Kendrick, the actress who plays Meera Reed on HBO's "Game of Thrones," has a signature look thanks to her curly dark hair. However, that unique aesthetic has die-hard fans of the show all up in arms about secret theories. That's right, "Game of Thrones" fans are speculating if Meera Reed and Jon Snow are siblings.
Given the twisty nature of the show's plots and its emphasis of familial relationships, it's understandable why fans may be jumping to this conclusion. Though the accuracy of this theory is slim, Digital Spy couldn't help but ask Kendrick about it during a recent interview.
"I genuinely don't have any idea as we don't get told anything," she said. "But, I don't know. I think people might just be thinking that because we've both got curly hair. In the books, our characters are described quite differently."
Kendrick goes on to explain that she's doubtful such a flimsy twist would be acceptable in the complex web of stories George R.R. Martin has created.
"Hey, I'd love it to be true because it would mean great things for my character, but I'm holding back speculation for now. I think what's been going on in George RR Martin's brain is so much more a complex wormhole than we could possibly imagine. I think there's definitely a mystery to Meera and Jojen and their parentage, but I think it'll unwind itself eventually.
"I can only dream. To be honest, I don't think Meera would be all that good on the Iron Throne! She's a little bit of a socialist at heart, I don't think she'll be able to rule with the iron fist that the throne requires."
So, no, it's doubtful that this theory will come to fruition. As of right now, we don't even know how Jon Snow comes back to life. But hopefully we'll get answers to all of our questions when "Game of Thrones" returns for a sixth season on April 24.
