Here at Pets Happy Zone, we love unlikely interspecies friendships. At the Symbio Wildlife Park in Helensburgh, New South Wales, Australia, an unlikely friendship was struck up between a white kookaburra and an albino echidna. Kookaburras are smiley-looking birds, and echidnas, sometimes called spiny anteaters, are one of only two mammal species that lay eggs, says National Geographic. These two Australian animals with funny names and unusually white coats have made for an adorable and striking pair.
Symbio posted this video about the two friends to its Facebook page, and it's gotten a lot of love.

Both animals had difficult early lives. Leo, the echidna, was found abandoned in a parking lot, and he was ill and weak. The kookaburra fell out of his nest and was rescued by Australia's Wildlife Rescue Organisation, WIRES, and then he ended up at Symbio. Luckily, they're both very loved and well cared for at the Wildlife Park.
One commenter of on the video identified herself as the niece of the person who brought Leo to Symbio from the lot. "My uncle took Leo the echidna to Symbio! It's great to see he is going great and making friends," said Olivia Ronsisvalle on the video post.
Both animals are significantly less pigmented than other members of their species. The kookaburra has leucism, meaning that most of his body is devoid of pigment, and the echidna is completely albino, reported The Daily Mail. The pair now are part of educational shows at the park together.
