iPad Pro Rumors: Apple Reportedly Working On A 12.9-Inch Display Tablet for The New Year

This holiday season, Apple will be marketing its newest edition in the iPad tablet family, the iPad Air. The device was released earlier this month as the most up-to-date iPad on the market along with the new Retina Display iPad Mini. Now many rumors are floating around that the company is already working on a new innovation to the tablet family, a 12.-inch tablet called the iPad Pro, slated for sometime next year.

According to sources allegedly connected to Apple's supply chain told The Korea Times that the company is working to supply users with a larger screen in a market where customers are demanding them in the wake of a lower demand for conventional PCs.

"Apple's local first-tier display supplier is now producing a 12.9-inch Retina Display to be used in the new iPad, which will be coming out sometime early next year," an official at an Apple supplier in Korea told the paper. "The display is now being manufactured by the supplier's plant in Korea."

The official said that Apple is increasingly interested in introducing bigger iPads in an effort to acknowledge what many in the tech industry believes will be the future of computing. Tablets are expected by many to replace laptops and desktops in the coming years.

"The 12.9-inch iPad will have improved picture quality. As the Apple partner intends to boost its lineup for displays that have almost ultra high-definition (UHD) quality, the upcoming iPad will provide very clear quality similar to that of UHD," said the official.

The news comes after Apple's biggest competitor Samsung revealed plans to become the biggest name in tablets with many in Korea reporting the company is working on tablets with OLED displays exceeding 10-inches.
