Andreja Pejic: Transgender Model Lands Cover Of Marie Claire Post-Transition (PHOTO)

Transgender model Andreja Pejic is taking the fashion world by storm! The 24-year-old landed the cover of Marie Claire Spain's March issue and looks as stunning as ever.

Pejic first came out as a transgender woman in July 2014 after already having a successful modeling career. Before her transition, the model was able to rock both men's and women's look due to her androgynous beauty. After her transition, Pejic became the first openly transgender model to be featured in Vogue magazine, walked twice for GILES during London Fashion Week and was named the face of Make Up For Ever, according to Entertainment Tonight.

On the cover of Marie Claire Spain, the model wear a purple Versace dress with the words "Romper El Tabú," or "Breaking the Taboo," according to Cosmopolitan. The magazine also named her "Model of the Year," an honor that has gone to big-time models like Irina Shayk, Doutzen Kroes, Anja Rubik, Gemma Ward and Linda Evangelista.

"It's a point of validation for my career," the model told ETonline about the high-profile magazine cover. "[It's a] gate-opening moment for transgender models. It feels beyond to have my name follow and gives me hope in showing that girls like us, are girls that are just as good!"

"I hope that halfway through my career or at least by the end of my career, it becomes normal to be a 'transgender model,'" she concluded.

Pejic is originally from Bosnia but fled the war-torn country when she was young and immigrated to Melbourne, Australia with her mother as a political refuge, according to the Daily Mail.
