’50 Shades of Grey’ Movie Casts Max Martini as Taylor, Christian’s Grey’s Bodyguard

The role of Jason Taylor has been filled. According to Variety, "Captain Phillips" star Max Martini will play Christian Grey's trusted bodyguard in the movie "Fifty Shades of Grey."

According to the site the actor is still in negotiations to land the role. Martini will join Dakota Johnson (Anastasia Steele), Jamie Dornan (Christian Grey), Luke Grimes (Elliot Grey), Eloise Mumford (Kate Kavanagh), Victor Rasuk (Jose Rodriguez) and Jennifer Ehle (Carla, Ana's mom).

In the book Taylor is described as a tall, muscular man in his early 30s. Ana finds a lot of similarities between Taylor and her stepdad Ray especially since they are both ex-military.

It was reported that the role was originally offered to "Zero Dark Thirty" star Frank Grillo but he turned it down.

For those not familiar with the plot, E.L. James' novel tells the story of college student Anastasia Steele and her relationship with Christian Grey, a wealthy but troubling billionaire. The two meet after Ana is forced to interview him for the school newspaper when her best friend Kate Kavanagh can't make it because she's sick. Christian introduces Ana to his unique lifestyle of bondage, kinky sex and BDSM. Throughout the novel Ana struggles with the decision of whether she can accept the lifestyle but can't deny that she is drawn to Christian.

The movie experienced some bumps in casting when Charlie Hunnam quit the lead role of Grey but it seems like everything is back on track now. "Fifty Shades of Grey" is scheduled to be released Friday, February 13, 2015 and filming begins Dec. 2 in Vancouver.

Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti are producing the movie, Kelly Marcel wrote the script and Sam Taylor-Johnson has been signed on to produce.
