It's all about chemistry when it comes to love and a new dating site makes its matches based on its clients' body odor. Smell Dating is the "first mail odor dating service" that brings couples together using their scent. The site was established by a pair of New York digital artists, Tega Brain and Sam Lavigne.
Members can sign up by paying the $25 fee and then the company will send a t-shirt. The member must wear this for three days without using any perfumes, colognes, deodorants or any artificial fragrance. Then, this shirt is shipped back in a prepaid envelope to Smell Dating where it will matched with other members.
"We cut them up into pieces and what you get back is other people's shirts. We send each participant a series of these pieces. You smell each one and you let us know which ones you like and then if someone else likes you too, we exchange contact information for you guys, with a phone number," said Lavigne via ABC News.
The website only collects contact details of its members and won't even ask for age, gender and other personal information, according to Independent. The dating service has also limited its member base to 100 New York City residents only.
"It's an Internet experiment," shared Lavigne, who also wants to find out if body odor is really a good basis for finding your mate for life.
