The full "Dancing with the Stars" cast reveal doesn't take place until next week, but the hit ABC show has already made a few exciting announcements for the upcoming season. On Wednesday, we found at out that "Fuller House" star Jodie Sweetin will be competing on Season 22, and now some of the other stars who will be joining her on the dance floor have been confirmed.
In the past, "DWTS" has officially revealed its casts on "Good Morning America." Since Sweetin's reveal was announced unexpectedly during Wednesday's broadcast, fans have been watching the morning talk show in case any more surprises came - and now it turns out one of their own will be joining the cast!
During this morning's show, it was announced that "GMA" host Ginger Zee is the new surprise cast member. "It's @Ginger_Zee," the official "GMA" account tweeted. "Our very own Ginger is going to be on the new season of @DancingABC."
Shortly after, it was revealed that Zee would be partnered up with "DWTS" hunk and Season 20 champ Val Chmerkovskiy.
Zee and pro Derek Hough (who will unfortunately not be competing this season) then put on an amazing show for the "GMA" audience, and Zee seems to already be one step ahead of everyone.
The 35-year-old weather anchor and her husband Ben Aaron welcomed son Adrian in December, so she has been on maternity leave for a few months now. She officially returns to "GMA" Monday, March 7, the day before the official "DWTS" cast announcement.
While ABC has not yet confirmed this, other sources have announced that Mischa Barton will also be competing on Season 22. The 30-year-old "The O.C." alum has reportedly been paired up with pro dancer Artem Chigvintsev.
Earlier this week, another source revealed that "America's Next Top Model" winner Nyle DiMarco will be competing as well. If this is true, the 26-year-old model and actor will be the second-ever deaf contestant to dance on the show (Marlee Matlin is the other). It's unclear who his dancing partner will be.
Stay tuned for more casting updates and watch the full reveal on "Good Morning America" Tuesday, March 8. Season 22 of "DWTS" premieres Monday, March 21, at 8 p.m. on ABC.
