Louis C.K. is the latest celebrity to weigh in on the ongoing current political campaigns after advising his fans in an email not to vote for Donald Trump. C.K. is famous for his blunt humor and pulled no punches when condemning Trump, outright comparing the politician to Hitler.
The message was delivered in a long footnote to a promotional email in which the comedian informed fans of a new episode of his HBO web series "Horace and Pete." C.K. was adamant that he was neither pro-Bernie Sanders nor pro-Hillary Clinton, but that Trump is "dangerous."
"Please stop it with voting for Trump. It was funny for a little while. But the guy is Hitler," C.K. wrote. "By that I mean that we are being Germany in the 30s. Do you think they saw [it] coming? Hitler was just some hilarious and refreshing dude with a weird comb over who would say anything at all."
C.K. wrote that he believed that a conservative candidate could provide "balance" but that Trump was not the man to do it, calling him an "insane bigot" and a "liar." He encouraged Trump voters to pick another candidate, warning them that "he's going to do everything for himself and leave you in the dust" and that "he is playing you."
The tirade comes after John Oliver launched an attack on Trump during Sunday's episode of his show "Last Week Tonight," giving a 21-minute monologue on what he perceived as Trump's shortcomings. The Republican frontrunner was also the subject of a "Saturday Night Live" skit the night before satirizing the reasons that people might vote for him.
"If you do vote for Trump, at least look at him very carefully first. You owe that to the rest of us," C.K. warned his fans towards the end of the extensive message. "If you vote for him because of how you feel right now, the minute he's president, you're going to regret it. You're going to regret it even more when he gives the job to his son... Please don't vote for your own cancer. You're better than that."
