The popular "Late Late Show" segment Carpool Karaoke is getting its own primetime special. The CBS special will feature an all-new Carpool Karaoke with Jennifer Lopez and highlights from past segments.
Corden introduced Carpool Karaoke during his first week on the air with guest Mariah Carey. The two drove around Los Angeles singing the Grammy-winning artist hit songs like "Always Be My Baby." Since her drive around town, the late-night host has carpooled with Justin Bieber, One Direction, Elton John and Carrie Underwood.
His most successful Carpool segment featured Adele as they cruised the streets of London singing her hits as well as the "Hello" singer rapping Nicki Minaj. The video holds the YouTube record for the most watched late-night clip with 84 million views.
"I have loved every minute of hosting 'The Late Late Show.' It's been an incredible year," Corden said. "I look forward to this hour on primetime to look at some of my favorite moments and share a couple of great new ones. I can't wait!"
The British comedian launched the "The Late Late Show with James Corden" on March 23, succeeding Craig Ferguson as the host of CBS's second hour of late-night entertainment. The new special will also show Corden reflecting on his first year on the job.
"We are so excited to be doing this show in primetime on CBS," executive producer Ben Winston said. "It has been the most wonderful first year on air, and to celebrate the season this way is really special. The show will include a mix of fun new moments and some of our favorite bits from this past year."
Executive producer Rob Crabbe added, "We're thrilled with the opportunity to introduce a primetime audience to some of the fun we're having every night after midnight. We can't wait to share our big opening number and to see what James and Jennifer Lopez get into as they Carpool Karaoke to work."
"The Late Late Show Carpool Karaoke Primetime Special" will air on Tuesday, March 29 at 10 p.m. on CBS. "The Late Late Show with James Corden" airs weeknights at 12:37 a.m. on CBS after "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert."
