Mariah Carey is engaged to a billionaire and has a $7.5 million 35-carat rock on her finger, so it's no surprise that their wedding is going to be extravagant. And considering her celebrity status, it makes sense that the two would want to keep the wedding private and intimate.
The 45-year-old pop diva and her fiancé James Packer reportedly plan to have their wedding on the private Caribbean island Barbuda with just 50 guests in attendance. Since the wedding is going to be a private affair, the happy couple will be flying their friends and family in on private jets.
While an exact date has not been set and invitations have yet to go out, sources close to the couple have said that the wedding will most likely be sometime after mid-June. The location is also special, as Packer and actor Robert De Niro are currently building a private $250 million resort together on the island of Barbuda.
She and the Australian businessman got engaged in January after dating for less than a year. Packer will be the singer's third husband, as she was previously married to Nick Cannon, who is the father of her two children. She was also married to music executive Tommy Mottola for five years. Packer has also been married twice and has three children of his own with his ex-wife Erica Baxter.
This exciting news comes just a day after Carey announced that she would be starring in a new E! Network docuseries called "Mariah's World," which will follow her as she embarks on her world tour, plans her wedding and raises her 4-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan. Despite the fact that E! is known for its hit celebrity reality shows, she wants to make sure people do not refer to it as reality TV.
"I refuse to call it a reality show," she said. "I thought it would be a good opportunity to kind of, like, show my personality and who I am, even though I feel like my real fans have an idea of who I am. A lot of people have misperceptions about this and that."
